It’s rare that you’d apply any of your makeup products without using a makeup brush for at least one of them.

This means that you’re using them on a daily basis which also means that the natural oils from your face, makeup residue and any other dust particles are building up on your brush. This is why cleaning your makeup brush regularly is super important to ensure it can keep effectively blending your makeup.

It will also increase the lifetime of the brush which means not having to continually spend money on a new one every couple of months.

In this blog, we’ll take you through our handy step-by-step guide for keeping your makeup brush clean for use time and time again.

First…Lets Wash

Wash your brush under some warm water and thoroughly rinse out all the residual makeup. 

Next, gently massage the bristles from the bottom up and take care in not getting water underneath the metal clasp of the handle as this can loosen it over time and damage it.

Shampoo? Who Knew!

Put a small drop of shampoo in a shallow bowl of warm water and swirl the bottom tips of the brush in the water. 

If you notice there’s quite a bit of makeup residue on your brush, be sure to add a little more shampoo into the palm of your hand and massage it into the bristles gently.

Trust us – shampoo works wonders when cleaning all that residual makeup from your brushes.

Give it a Rinse

Now that you’ve washed your brush, it’s time to rinse it under running water. We’d recommend repeating the shampoo step until the water runs clear from the brush.

Finally, use a clean cloth to wipe your brush completely clean whilst reshaping the bristles as you go.

Time to Dry

Once your brushes are clean, lay them flat on a cloth to dry for a while. We’d recommend doing this at night so they’re ready to be used again in the morning.

We’d recommend spending 10 minutes a week on a deep clean of your brushes. You’ll be blown away at the difference it will make to your makeup application but also the quality of the brush itself.
